The scala-500 is engineered to serve as the perfect complement for your mobile phone, no matter where you are. Whether you are walking the sidewalks of a busy city, or biking or hiking on a windy day, you will appreciate our WindGuard solution: Cardo's proprietary wind blocking technology overcomes wind interference significantly better than any other BT headset on the market. Naturally, the scala-500 comes equipped with all high end features and functionalities you would expect from a leading headset: At only .58 oz (16.8 g), the sleek and stylish scala-500 is one of the smallest and lightest devices available and still offers up to 9 hours of talk time. We also added a speaker booster to provide substantially higher volume capacity than otherwise available. Give the scala-500 a try and you will see why more than any other wireless headset, this is the perfect complement for your mobile phone.

What Customers Say About Cardo Systems SCALA500 Bluetooth Headset (Grey):

constantly had problems with the pronunciation of who i was trying to call.big problem when driving. didnt use it for a while, now it doesnt recharge or charge at all

In each case, the Scala 500 easily - not even close - sounded the clearest and most natural. I've been using the Scala 500 for YEARS. I bought a Motorola low-end one, and a Jabra high-end one, and a new Scala 500. Then I went driving with the air conditioner on, re-pairing the three and leaving new messages, identifying each at the start of my messages. So don't spend tons of money on other, perhaps sleeker or more stylish models if what you really want is to be able to clearly hear your party, and allow them to clearly hear you. I then paired each with my phone.

My call recipients often express surprise that we're talking from my headset, as they would not know unless I told them. Here's why: After my first one broke, I decided to try several others. In the case of the "parked" message, if I didn't know the message was left from a headset, I would have thought it was a land line, it was that clear. I first paired the Scala - then I called home and left a message while parked at the side of the road. I then paired each of the others and did the same thing. Needless to say, I returned the other two (far more expensive - the Motorola was $89 and the Jabra was $119) sets and kept the Scala 500 - the $27.99 price I got on that one was the best bargain EVER.

The Scala 500 beat all competitors - no hands.

After considering all the factors I went with a Plantronics 510 for myself and the Scala 500 for my wife. The Scala has more of a floppy feel to it because the weight is beside your ear, but my wife doesn't mind that since she only wears it when driving. My wife wears glasses and I have hearing damage so I had to consider those factors too. I use mine a lot and my wife uses hers just when she's driving.

The volume goes way up on the thing so I can hear just fine even when I'm driving. I'm sure it is loud enough for people who don't have hearing damage. My wife and I have different needs, so I had to take a lot into consideration. Both were excellent choices. When the glasses-attachment is used it doesn't flop around at all; it holds firmly to the glasses.

The shape of the PLT is better for me.The PLT 510 has an ear bud that goes in your ear which is great for me since I am half deaf and needed something that was plenty loud. I wasn't too concerned about price because most of the devices are around $50. The Scala 500 is light and small and has a neat little gadget for hooking it to your glasses. I can talk for hours before it starts to run down, and charging time is less than an hour.

I looked at all the bluetooth devices before making this purchase. But like I said, I have big ears so that is probably why it flops around when I wear it. That little ear-loop is made for a small ear I guess. The Scala 500 sits outside your ear and doesn't quite get as loud as the PLT. The PLT 510 is completely different. I'm glad I did the research before making the purchase. Also, I have big ears and my wife has little ears.

I got the right bluetooth for each of us. It's easy to install and use. It's bulk sits around your ear, so the weight goes around your ear instead of out to the side so it is comfortable to wear for long periods of time and does not have that floppy feel. My wife can hear just fine with it.Battery life and charging time is about the same with both. I recommend both, but do the research and make sure you know what you need first.

With bluetooth headsets, there is much to be said about individual comfort and I have found this Cardo to be very comfortable for me. It functions very well also.

I purchased the Scala 500 Bluetooth Headset after looking at other recommendations. It stays active for a long time, is easy to setup, smallish, and functional. I've never owned one before so I'm not familiar with other designs. This headset does really well in windy situations and is very easy to use. Not too many features to confuse a novice and not too little to be ineffectual. I would definitely recommend this product.
